IBNInc and the Designer Chicks 

ABOUT THE DESIGNER CHICKS

The Designer Chicks network group was established in March 2012 by Robyn Hawke from Inspired Spaces and Lucia van Gerwen – formerly from More Than Curtains (business sold in 2022). Robyn and Lucia had identified the need for a networking group to support those running their own businesses in the creative, design industries.

This “Creative” industry cluster networking group is a unique opportunity for business owners in similar fields, to come along each month and share their knowledge and experience, ask questions, learn from business expert speakers and support each other at whatever stage their business is at.

Knowing that everyone is working in a similar industry allows for in-depth conversations around processes, policies, pricing, quoting, suppliers and marketing for these types of businesses. Meetings at supplier showrooms to see latest release products and trends is also an important part of this group.

With a consistent membership of 20 over all the years that the group has been running, with people coming from all over Sydney to attend the monthly meetings.

Over this time period we have mentored around 100 designers from all genres who have gone on to create successful design businesses. The value of this network group, with a focus on business education and the sharing of industry knowledge for these creative industries, has been proven to help support and grow business for all who attend.

To have a network group that is dedicated to creative, design related businesses is invaluable as these business owners have specific aspects of their day to day work that is quite different to other industries, so to be able to be surrounding by others who know exactly what you do, the issues you face, the challenges you have, means that there is a support network that understands and can share their experiences, advice and offer recommendations to help.

In 2022 we incorporated The Designer Chicks network group into the IBNInc family.

This network group is for all creative business owners and they meet on the last Wednesday of the month.

Aims

The Designer Chicks aims are to:

• provide support and education to creative business owners to enable then to reach their personal and business goals
• provide a forum for open discussion on business related topics, issues and ideas
• support the promotion of creative businesses within the local community
• facilitate the creation of strategic alliances and partnerships within the group
• provide opportunities for members to share experiences and knowledge for the benefit of other members or their customers
• promote the group and its members

Membership

Annual memberships is a very affordable $200.00.

There is a Casual Meeting Attendee Fee of $45.00

Eligibility

All Creative Business Owners are welcome to attend.

Joining

To become a member, individuals must pay their annual membership.

Costs

There is an annual Membership and Meeting fee of $200.00 which includes morning tea.

Non Member, Casual Meeting Fee: $45.00

Membership allows voting rights at the IBNInc Annual General Meeting and on any other association items.
